Man Killed on Mount Hamilton Road in Negligent Car Crash

Man Killed on Mount Hamilton Road in Negligent Car Crash

Last Thursday, a man was killed in the South Bay, on Mount Hamilton Road, due to the negligence of another driver.

It was 52-year-old Anthony Charles Harris’ birthday when 36-year-old Latoya Jackson’s Range Rover Velar plummeted 150 feet down Mount Hamilton Road on July 5th. Officers at the scene reported a vehicle crash at 11:45 p.m., approximately 150 feet off the intersection of Mount Hamilton and Alum Rock Road. Ross Lee, a California Highway Patrol spokesman released a statement saying, “The officers saw some taillights down a steep embankment, and a woman was being helped up the embankment by a passerby.”

Jackson, a Campbell resident, was arrested after investigators at the crash site found her to be under the influence of alcohol. She was booked in the county jail on suspicion of felony DUI and vehicular manslaughter. Paramedics pronounced Harris dead after trying to revive him.

The CHP has said that this latest incident totals the 5th DUI-related death in the South Bay since July 3rd, with 12 people arrested under suspicion of DUI since that evening.
